How to track WhatsApp conversions properly

WhatsApp is often described as a black box. It does not have to be. With the right setup you can measure the full funnel from impression to conversation, and connect it to downstream business outcomes.

Define your WhatsApp funnel

At minimum: visit, capture, redirect, reply, conversion. The first three live in WACapture. The last two live in your business systems — calendar, CRM, POS or spreadsheet.

Tag every source

Use source parameters on every channel. Instagram bio, Google Ads, QR codes and newsletter links should all carry a distinct tag.

Close the loop manually if needed

Export leads to CSV monthly and reconcile them against bookings, sales or appointments. Even a manual reconciliation gives you a clear cost-per-lead and cost-per-conversion per channel.

Watch for vanity metrics

Clicks alone are vanity. Capture rate and reply rate are real. Optimise for those.

Takeaway

Treat WhatsApp like any other channel: measure the funnel, tag every source, and close the loop on downstream conversions.

Put this into practice with WACapture.
